Fall Preview - The Man’s Guide

09/03/10

blogpost

Sorry to say it but Fall will be here before you know it! The good news is that Haberdash has the low down on ready to wear fashion for dudes. Think Gar-animals for grown ups. We’ve taken the guess work out of outfitting yourself for Fall and have assembled a collection that is totally comfortable, cohesive and easy to wear. Don’t forget cool - damn cool! Everything we’ve bought is designed to work together pretty much, so there’s very little room for error. As guys we’re always looking for fool proof and simple – aren’t you?

In the meantime, check out a preview of what’s hot (and cool) for Fall…

Plaids and Patterns – look for rich plaids and vibrant tartans and interesting patterns like fair isle (a traditional style of knitting from a remote Scottish island)

Sweaters – warm, chunky, with v-neck and shawl collars in great earthy colors like charcoal, brown, green, navy, black and more

Hunting and Workwear Inspiration – check out our coats and outerwear - originally designed for form and function - they are all about style now.

Authentic Old School Brands – throw back to American Heritage from way back when. Remember Gant, Woolrich, Gitman and Red Wing – they’re retooled but uber-cool in a retro way. They’re back baby!

That said we’re stocked and ready when you are. So stop by and let us help you pull your fall look together. But for now, chill out – relax and enjoy the weekend.

Suit Up!

04/15/10

Like filing your taxes, shopping for a guy’s “monkey suit” has got a bad rap. But, we’re swooping in to tell it like it is – man style. So, here’s the low down on procuring a man’s signature fashion item - the suit.

Shopping for a suit doesn’t have to be a bad experience – really! Shopping at a smaller specialty store may provide you a higher level of service and an appropriately edited collection of the best of the best.

You don’t have to spend an arm and leg – seriously! The quality, selection and styling is streamlined and has come down in price.

Tailored to perfection – you can just buy a great suit off the rack, but make sure the alterations are all about you. A skilled tailor can make all the difference. A well-tailored suit should fit like it was created exclusively for you.

Don’t wear your dad’s old suit. Get with the times. Suiting today is more modern with contemporary, slimmed down lines. Color-wise understated stripes, plaids, solids, rich traditional shades and beautiful shades of tan and grey for spring are all acceptable. Suits can be dressed up or dressed down – customizable based on occasion.

The best news, however, is that Haberdash offers all the above and is now offering a sweet deal on suits - 30% off on all suits all the time.

Can’t do any better than that - Period!

Be Buttoned Up

Back to school – it’s Shirts 101.  Whether you call them wovens, button-downs or button-ups, shirts are not only an essential ‘basic’ but can be a focal point for a stylish guy.  Whether stand alone or layered; the shirt can say a lot about the man.  Here are a few key guidelines you need to know when it comes to the shirt.

To Wear in or to Wear out?
Both are okay – but there are a few things you need to remember.  It’s cool to un-tuck for a casual night out or hanging with the guys.  Length is the key, make sure your shirt isn’t too long – don’t want to look like your wearing your girlfriend’s nightgown.  For business or for a more high-end occasion – start tucking.

It’s Hip to be Cheap (Save $$$ on dry cleaning)
Here’s the greatest tip of all time, check your label – as long as they don’t say ‘dry clean only,’ you can wash and go (just wash at home, hang it to dry) – you’ll end up with a great ‘worn in’ look without paying for dry cleaning.  You don’t even need to iron it – the wrinkled look is ‘in.’ It’s a win-win.

Be Current
Know this season’s style and work it into your wardrobe.  We’re not talking about Seinfeld’s puffy shirt, we swear!  But, the shirt is the star, this spring’s look is all about - bright colors, rich plaids and wrinkled fabrics.  For casual shirts look for great items from Steven Alan, Gant, Gitman Vintage, John Varvatos Star USA, Rag & Bone and our own Haberdash brand.   For dress shirts: our Haberdash private label dress shirts made by Gitman Bros. in Ashland, PA, feature classic construction and a trim-fit.   Shop our great selection of shirts in stock or choose from over 100 swatches and create your own custom shirt.

Hope you’ve learned a little and gained some inspiration.  If that wasn’t enough, we’re just about giving you the shirts off our back with a great deal.  Now through March 3, receive a $25 gift card to the store with every casual or dress shirt you purchase.

The Rebirth of Cool

09/12/09

Haberdash was recently featured on Urban Daddy about our new look, check the article out below:

A Change of Clothes
The Rebirth of Cool on Wells Street

You’ve got a friend—we all do—content to coast through life in nothing but graphic tees and that perfectly well-worn pair of jeans.

But now that it’s fall, it’s time for you to put that big brotherly, well-dressed arm around his shoulder and gently reintroduce him to some friends he knows and trusts: welcome to the newly reinvented Haberdash.

These are guys who understand him. Until very recently, they were him. But they spent a very introspective summer looking in their full-length mirrors, and figuring out how to become better men—or at least a better store, one worthy of the name Haberdash. (Better late…)

Now there’s a welcome feeling of grown-up-ness. (If we may use that invented word.) Maybe it’s the newly installed mahogany paneling, which makes the place look like something of a modern men’s club. But it’s probably the fact that the shop now carries everything from dress socks to office-ready Hugo Boss suits and even its own exclusive line of vintage-inspired button-downs.

Of course, you can still pick up some Japanese denim or a cool T-shirt for your Sunday afternoon patio crawls. But they’ll also hook you up with some sharp British brogues from Grenson to help you look your Clooney-est when Monday morning rolls around.

Because George was that guy once, too.
