Five boutique owners predict the next big things for spring.

Adam Beltzman, owner of Haberdash
“I know the Counterpane boat shoe by Timberland Boot Company is going to be a big hit. TBC is a high-end limited division of Timberland that produces boots and shoes that draw inspiration from the Depression era. This brand has been blowing out of here, and boat shoes are definitely back in style. It’s a great look for the spring and summer as guys can wear it with or without socks; and it’s a great alternative to sneakers with shorts.”

THE SCENE: As its name suggests, Haberdash is rooted in classic menswear. But this 21st century boutique veers left much more than the name suggests. “We’re not a premium contemporary, classic or super-forward store,” says owner Adam Beltzman. “We’re in the middle.” Focusing on getting guys to become more wardrobe savvy, Beltzman encourages customers to take the leap and try something new.

Annual Guide to the Best Stores in the Chicago Area

“Modeled after an old fashioned hat store, this modern men’s boutique gives guys a place to chill out and stock up. Dark leather armchairs, a plasma screen TV, and steel fixtures provide a masculine backdrop for Theory suits; casual wear by Trovata, Fred Perry, James Perse and Ted Baker; and jeans by Serfontaine. Accessories run the gamut; look for grooming products by Billy Jealousy and men’s jewelry by Me&Ro.”

Man Boutiques – New generation of designer shops for men are popping up all over the city – and ladies, their employees are waiting to help you re-dress your guy

“Bored with his lawyer gig defending school boards, self-professd clothes horse Adam Beltzman recently set up shop in part of the former Barbara’s Bookstore space at Cobbler’s Square. Complete with upscale grooming supplies from Billy Jealousy, cool clothes and free candy, the sleekly designed Haberdash is modeled after old-fashioned haberdasheries – intimate men’s clothing shops devoid of department store hassles and headaches. . .”
