Abington CollectionEstablished: 1978 | Country of Origin: USA Timberland launched its Men’s Abington collection in Fall 2008, inspired by work life in New England in the late 1800s. The collection’s stories center around pre-industrial era work boots worn by farmers, hunters and guides – from a time when the land was rugged, the people were rugged and the footwear they depended on had to be too. Taking its moniker from Timberland’s original company name (the Abington Shoe Company), this elite collection is made up of clean, classic boots and shoes with modern updates and performance attributes. For Fall 2011, Timberland takes inspiration from New England farmers and loggers of the era, creating new Abington styles that merge modern styling with the brand’s long history of quality craftsmanship for the outdoors. Several styles feature smooth premium leather from Horween Leather Company of Chicago and supple suede from Charles F. Stead & Co. Ltd. of Leeds, England, along with Vibram® outsoles for superior traction. The Abington collection was created out of a belief that style comes naturally to classic, simple boots that perform and last for years. At its foundation is a sense of purpose and quality that defies current disposable consumer attitudes by presenting streamlined silhouettes designed to rebel against trends. |
