Ari Bendersky

His work has been published in the New York Times, the Associated Press, Rollingstone.com, Chicago magazine, Time Out Chicago, Health, Out, The Advocate, Daily Candy, Cool Hunting and more.

When Ari isn’t eating or exploring different neighborhoods, he often speeds along Chicago’s lakefront on his road bike and is an avid Scrabble and Words With Friends player. Some of his favorite haunts are In Fine Spirits, Mon Ami Gabi, Irazu, Sun Wah BBQ, Scarlet, Watershed, Big Star and Nightwood.

Max Wastler

Born in a railtown in Kansas and raised in a railtown in Missouri, Max Wastler rode the rails of his adolescence to develop a sincere appreciation of the Midwest. His passion for American-made goods manifested itself when Max worked in production and design for a large, corporate clothing company. Disillusioned and determined to find a better alternative, he began to research and travel to companies making classically designed American products, interviewing the people who worked there and falling in love with their stories.

Today Max walks with one foot in the old world and the other in the new, keeping up with trends in business and fashion while growing an ever-increasing appreciation for handmade goods. He’s a student of the past, a big fan of the future, and a heckuva conversationalist.

Tim Schroeder

Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago with three older sisters, Tim Schroeder developed a certain aesthetic at a young age. His eye for detail followed him as he grew up, and migrated to the city. Standard Luxe is a lifestyle blog that he developed out of his dorm room at Loyola University Chicago, which gave him the power to curate his own inspirations of style, design, art, and people. His strong appreciation for learning and observing has given him the opportunity to express himself creatively on many levels.

Tim is currently residing in Old Town, and will always be seen walking around the city; collecting books, black and white photography, and any new magazine published—English or not. Being an avid traveler, he is always planning his next trip, but will continually call Chicago his home.

Mark Rumble

Mark Rumble is writer living in Chicago who wishes he did something more lucrative with his economics degree. He’s written for CS magazine, as well as a mid-size newspaper in Michigan, an ill-fated web series on MSN.com about minor league baseball, and an online magazine about kitchen and bath design. He also started the Chicago men’s website, Man Up Chicago.

When not writing, Rumble is usually procrastinating about writing or trying to explain to people the boundaries of Ukrainian Village, where he currently lives. He’s also heard every joke one can make about his last name, but he’ll totally humor you if you must make an unfortunate pun.
